I have had a brilliant idea - why not get someone something useful they would actually want and also enjoy as a present.
Socks and boxers are practical, but not the most exciting present.
Bedding and pajamas are useful but again, not overly exciting.
Gadgets typically engage us quickly and satisfy our needs for something special and amazing to be revealed once we tear off the wrapping.
So as the title has given away already - the gift idea I am thinking of is a robotic vacuum cleaner.
For those who have never heard of them, or know what they look like I will do my best to explain.
They are small, usually round devices, about 30cm wide.
They have small brushes and dust collection bins.
Their small and compact shape allows them to navigate under furniture and get into all the hard to get to nooks and crannies.
Sensors allow them to find their way around obstacles.
Different models have different functions but as a rule most of them come with some sort of docking station, and radio signal devices which you place to make the edge of the rooms.
They robot then makes it's way randomly around the room and cleans constantly.
More advanced models have the ability to detect and avoid stairs, and also make their way back to their docking stations when they are low on battery.
Scheduling features are also available allowing you to program the robot to clean whilst you are at work or asleep.
If that is not a good Christmas present then I do not know what is.
