- The scholarship foundation Distinguished Young Women, which began in 1958, provides scholarships and grants to high school senior girls throughout the United States. The scholarships awarded through this foundation must be used for college. Distinguished Young Woman awards scholarships in one of two ways: through direct application and through special partnerships with 200 colleges and universities across the United States. Since Distinguished Young Women started, the foundation has awarded $90 million in grants to young women who plan to attend college as of June 2011.
- The American Association of University Women, which was founded in 1881, is a network made up of over 100,000 members and donors, and 500 college and university partners that award scholarships to female college students every year. Applicants can submit a centralized online undergraduate grant application. Every state has differing scholarship amounts through the American Association of University Women, so the amount of funds will depend on the state in which you reside and participating branch criteria. Each state branch will review its applicant pool to determine eligibility and award allotment.
- For girls who want to study computer science or another technical-related field in college, Google offers the Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship. Google "hopes to encourage women to excel in computing and technology and become active role models and leaders in the field" through the scholarship, which is awarded to both undergraduate and graduate females. Criteria for the Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship include assessing the strength of the applicant's academic background and steps each applicant has taken to demonstrate leadership. All scholarship finalists are invited to attend a retreat that includes workshops, speakers and panelists at the company's headquarters in Mountain View, California.
- Global organization Zonta International offers two college scholarships for girls: the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship and the Young Women in Public Affairs Award. The Jane M. Klausman Scholarship is open to women studying for a business or business-related undergraduate or master's degree. The Young Women in Public Affairs Award is open to female applicants between 16 and 19 years old who are "committed to leadership in public policy, government and volunteer organizations" and have experience in state or local governments.
