Hi, this is Cristen, with Cool Springs Eye Care in Franklin, Tennessee, and I'm going to teach you how to remove your contact lenses without scraping your eyes. One important thing to remember is never use your finger nails to remove your contact lenses. That's the main reason that a lot of people scrape their eyes when they're trying to remove their lenses. The two methods of removing your lens are pinching it straight off of the colored part of the eye, or pulling it down to the white part of the eye, and then pinching and pulling it off from there. If you're having trouble removing your lenses and you feel like you're causing some irritation, put a couple drops of re-wetting solution or contact lens solution in your eye and wait a few minutes. That can make it a little more, a little easier for you to remove your lenses. If you're still having trouble after that, you may cause even more irritation if you continue to try to remove the lenses. So, step away from it for a few minutes, take a break, and then go back and try to remove your lenses. If you're still having trouble, seek help from an eye care provider. They'll be able to remove your lenses without causing more damage to your eyes. And that's how you remove your lenses without scraping your eyes.
