Bob Marley-The Legendary Reggae King

Nesta Robert Bob Marley, was a Jamaican singer-songwriter and musician best known for his Reggae records. Bob is a common nickname for the given name Robert. He was born on February 6, 1945, at St. Ann Parish in the village of Nine Mile, Jamaica. Bobs was raised with lots of struggle and under financial constraints by his mother Cedella Marley Booke and his absentee father, Captain Norval Marley. Bob, being a child of a black mother and a white father was called a half-cast and his father had abandoned him at a young age which forced him to look at other men as role models. Bob was truly in love with music from his early childhood days. Further, Bob was inspired to learn and play the guitar from one of his childhood friend in St. Ann named Neville Bunny ORiley Livingston. Attending the same school, the two shared a common passion for music. Later in late 1950s, Livingstons father and Marley mother, they all lived together for a time in Kingston, Jamaica. Struggling in poverty Marley lived in Trench Town, one of the poorest neighborhoods of the city. But the music around him kept him motivated and inspired. Trench Town was called the Motown of Jamaica as it had a number of successful local performers.

One of the most important father figures in the life of Bob Marley was Clement Sir Coxson€ Dodd, the founder and head of the famous Jamaican Studio One. Marley was homeless early in his career and Dodd took Marley off the streets, letting him sleep in a shed in the backyard of the studio. Coxsones primitive studio became the creative center of the Jamaican recording business as well as the laboratory where Jamaican ska, rock steady, and reggae music were researched and developed. Dod released Bob Marleyfs first hit, Simmer Down. This old wise man played a mentor-like role in the life of the essentially fatherless Nesta Robert Marley. He was also mentored by Clarence Martin, a popular Jamaican dance hall guitarist and it was on Martins guitar that this young boy made his first attempt in creating music.

Reggae is a music genre first developed in Jamaica in the late 1960s and Bob introduced this music to the world and remains one of the genres most beloved artists till today. From here started the successful journey of The Bob Marley in the world of music where is gained place in the heart of all the music lovers. He became the rhythm guitarist and lead singer for the Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae Bands. Sounds from the United States also drifted in over the radio and through jukeboxes.

Besides this, Marley was exploring his spiritual side and developing a growing interest in the Rastafarian movement. Bob Marley served as a world ambassador for reggae music. Marley went on to sell more than 20 million records throughout his career, making him the first international superstar to emerge from the so-called Third World. Bob Marley and the Wailers was recorded live in the concert at the Paris Theatre, London in 1973. Marley shared his comprehension on life and love in his quotes which are still widely recalled.
