At some point every practical person must think about the next chapter in life and make some decisions. There are crucial questions that should be answered regarding how exciting the future will be. Once our days of working a J.O.B. are over have we sufficiently prepared for our €What Now'? When asked €If You Had All the Time and Money You Needed What Would You Do?' 99 of every 100 people surveyed answered Travel!
To prepare myself for my €What Now' after retirement I began to consider what the next chapter of my life would consist of. I knew I wanted something I could pursue that I'm already passionate about, would receive enjoyment from, and that would generate an income enabling me to be financially independent instead of surviving on a €Fixed Income'.
Some time ago I responded to a survey that asked what I intended to do when I retire to which I responded; Travel! Of course at the time I had not contemplated what avenue was going to provide me with the means to accomplish this. I have now learned how I can transform my passion for travel into a profitable career.
My new mission is to show others affordable ways to travel the world and if they too are looking to fulfill a dream of being a business owner while they enjoy world-class vacations it's just a mouse-click away. In addition to travel becoming an 8.1 Trillion dollar industry-it has also become an innate necessity.
According to the Hierarchy of Needs introduced to the world by Abraham Maslow, there are 5 stages or levels of need:
1. Biological/Physiological Needs
2. Safety Needs
3. Social Needs
4. Esteem Needs
5. Self-Actualization Needs
This model proposes that these needs must be attained in succession, in other words the basic needs or lower level needs must be met before an individual can progress to the next level. This would suggest that the basic needs of air, food, clothing, and shelter must be achieved prior to fulfilling social needs; however, travel has become so important in so many people's lives that they view it as a necessity.
Travel helps to reduce stress, keeps people stimulated and creates a sense of well-being. It's a known fact that vacationers who experience a relaxing time during their trip generally have an increase in happiness when they return to their normal lives. While the number of reasons people travel is certainly limitless, here is a list of the top 10 reasons:
1. To have fun and break away from the day to day routine
2. For excitement and adventure
3. To see a famous place or attraction
4. To practice a certain sport or a special interest (ex. Skiing, Diving, or Golfing)
5. To learn about history and culture
6. For religious purposes
7. To meet new people
8. For a romantic experience
9. To pamper yourself
10. To shop and buy interesting things
There are a variety of methods to satisfy the need to travel and travelers of any age can experience the pleasure of something new and different. The perfect way to get started is to plan.
