As you know, attrition is one problem that network marketing business owners face.
As you are adding new customers, your existing ones drop out.
It feels as though you are running constantly on the customer treadmill, just trying to keep up rather than building your sales volume up to a higher level each month.
Here are a few tips that have helped me to keep my customers longer.
Building Your Customer Base First, it is important to develop a solid customer base whether you are getting your customers through online marketing or the friends and family approach.
This is because it is much easier to get customers than distributors.
You may think that the smaller commissions that customers provide isn't worth it, but if you want to see your business steadily grow, don't neglect customer acquisition.
Once you have a customer, here is how you keep that customer as long as possible.
Personal Relationship First, make sure you call your customers on a regular basis.
Develop a personal relationship with them so that they know you really care about their well being.
Doing this also gives you the advantage of being able to introduce new products to them if it matches their needs.
Automatic Delivery Second, hopefully your customers are on some sort of automatic delivery.
Having consumable products that your customer buys repeatedly helps you to continually build your sales volume.
Usually you can get a customer on automatic delivery by offering them a discount on the price, and giving them the option to cancel at any time without penalty.
A regular wholesale customer with a lower commission for you by far outweighs a retail customer with a higher commission who only orders once.
Monitoring Inventory Third, assuming you have as many of your customers as possible on automatic delivery, the most important way I have found to retain customers is to call them after they have received their second automatic monthly delivery and see how they are doing on inventory.
I can't tell you how many times I have called a customer to have them say, "Oh, you must have been reading my mind.
" They were just about to call the company and cancel their automatic delivery because they had too much product.
I then offer to put them on bi-monthly delivery (every other month).
Sixty-two percent of my automatic delivery customers are on bi-monthly delivery.
If I hadn't changed them to bi-monthly, I probably would have lost over half of my regular customers! As it is, many of them have been with me for years because they eagerly await their next order when they are only getting it every other month.
I hope you found these tips helpful for building a relationship with your customers and keeping them ordering from you for a long time.
