    Caffeine is an adenosine blocker, impeding the very neurotransmitter that promotes sleep.
    So be sure to limit your intake of coffee, tea, energy drinks and sodas (especially if you have a difficult time sleeping at night).
  2. The second sleep thieve is nicotine.
    Sure we all know that it can lead to lung cancer, but not too many of us are aware of the fact that it can diminish the quality of your sleep.
    Nicotine stimulates the central nervous system which can cause insomnia.
    This particular drug makes it more difficult for us to get a good night sleep because it speeds up the heart rate, raises blood pressure, and stimulates fast brain wave activity.
    So if you thought that cigarettes helped you relax, think again! If you want to avoid sleepless nights, make sure that you stay away from cigarette smoke and chewing tobacco.
These are two of the most common sleep thieves.
