How to Build Your Own Concealed Security Camera Outside

    • 1). Unscrew the reflector from the front of the floodlight and remove the retaining ring.

    • 2). Put on work gloves. Grip an edge of the floodlight bulb with the jaws of a needle-nosed pliers. Twist the edge counterclockwise to loosen the bulb. Unscrew the bulb and set aside.

    • 3). Grip the edge of the socket with the jaws of the needle-nosed pliers. Twist the socket with the pliers until it becomes dislodged. Pull the socket out of the floodlight.

    • 4). Place the acrylic sheet on a work surface. Place the reflector face down on the acrylic sheet. Cut an outline around the reflector on the acrylic sheet with a utility knife and punch out the piece.

    • 5). Cut out the reflector screen from the inside of the reflector using the utility knife. Remove the reflector screen and discard.

    • 6). Apply bonding glue to the inside rim of the reflector. Place the acrylic cut-out sheet inside the reflector and against the bonding glue. Hold the acrylic against the bonding glue for 2 minutes. Let the bonding glue set for 3 hours before proceeding.

    • 7). Drill a hole through the back end of the reflector, next to the base at the top, with the portable drill.

    • 8). Place the video camera's power supply inside the floodlight. Run the power cord from the power supply out through the hole. Tape the power supply to the inside of the reflector with duct tape strips.

    • 9). Apply bonding glue to the front of the video camera. Place the front of the camera against the acrylic, Hold the two together for 2 minutes. Let the bonding glue set for 2 hours. Reapply bonding glue to the sides of the video camera where it meets the acrylic. Let the bonding glue set for another 2 hours.

      Place the retaining ring on the front of the floodlight. Screw the reflector back on the front of the floodlight.

      Plug the AC plug from the video camera's power supply into the AC connection on an AC bulb adapter. Screw the AC bulb adapter into the socket from which the floodlight was removed earlier. Screw the base of the floodlight into the socket to hold your concealed camera, which is now aimed towards the front of your house.
