- 1). Determine what type of wheels are on the wheel chair. If the wheel has a valve stem, it's pneumatic. If it's hard and you can't puncture it, it's an air-free wheel.
- 2). Turn the wheel chair on its side and look for the wheel release toward the center of the wheel on the inside.
- 3). Press the wheel release. The wheel will pop out of place and lift off.
- 4). Use a wrench for wheels secured by a bolt. Grab the bolt tightly with the wrench, turn it counter-clockwise and remove the nut.
- 5). Slide the wheel off the wheel chair.
