You can also approach someone to give their subscribers a chance to opt-in to your mailing list by subscribing to your e-zine or by offering something valuable to them.
I believe you have undoubtedly been on the receiving end of co-registration leads more than once.

There are three types of co-registration leads: opt-in, opt-out, and double opt-in.
You have undoubtedly encountered all 3 of these in your own web surfing activity.
Opt-in simply means you are opting to have more information and you usually indicate this by checking a box or something alike.
Opt-out can be a bit tricky since you specifically have to check a box or something alike to indicate you don't wish to receive more information or be contacted.
Double opt-in works the equal way opt-in does in that you check the box on the form, but then you also have to click on a confirmation link sent to your email address to further commit to getting more information.
A lot of Internet marketers are absolutely happy using the basic opt-in lead while others use the opt-out and the double opt-in as well.
Most marketers quickly learn, however, by using the opt-out co-registration lead, although you are able to build a list rather quickly, because it is not a specifically targeted list, your sales may be unsatisfying.
In fact, a lot, if not most subscribers simply do not realize that in order NOT to receive additional information or communication from you that they have to check the box.
These subscribers are not going to turn into clients; either they will quickly unsubscribe, delete your emails, or they simply will not bother to read them.
While the double opt-in lead will ensure more targeted subscribers, as it happens, these types of leads are more valuable so you may want to experiment and track your sales based on the different types of leads you choose.
Just being armed with the knowledge of how the different types of leads work will put you in the driver's seat when you are ready to start or update your list!
