- 1). Look through your local newspaper's "help wanted" section. Circle every job your teenager is eligible for. Ask your teen to look at the jobs circled and narrow the choices down to what he's most interested in. He should write down the contact information and follow the application process noted in the advertisement. If there are no application details, he should go to the business and ask for an application.
- 2). Post flyers at community locations if your teen wants to work for herself. She can advertise her services as a babysitter, dog walker, pet sitter, personal assistant, gardener or whatever position she is qualified for. The flyers should include her contact information, her fees and all services she offers. Post these at your local grocery store, laundry mat, church, activity center and any other local community board.
- 3). Talk to your friends, families and co-workers. Tell them your teenager is looking for a job and ask if they know of any local job openings. If they know of potential jobs, your teen should call them for more information.
- 4). Go to your local job service or city recreation department and ask if they are hiring teenagers. If there are positions available, send your teenager to pick up an application.
- 5). Walk the streets and the mall. Look for "help wanted" signs posted in the windows. Note which places are looking for employees and tell your teenager. She should return to those stores to pick up applications.
