These lip-plumping recipes contain either spices or essential oils that irritate your lips and cause temporary swelling. Don't use them if your lips are chapped or cracked since the ingredients can sting your exposed skin. Wash your fingers immediately after applying the lip plumper to avoid getting it in your eyes, and clearly label the jar you store the mixture in so you don't mistake it for plain petroleum jelly, which is one of the ingredients you will use. - Before going to bed, thoroughly mix a half teaspoon of cinnamon and a half teaspoon of salt with 1 generous tablespoon of petroleum jelly. Put some of the mixture on your finger and rub it across your lips until they feel tingly and smooth. Wipe the petroleum jelly off after five minutes. Dip a lipstick brush into fresh beet root juice or red food coloring and lightly paint your lips. In the morning, apply a light coating of fresh petroleum jelly. The application will last for a few days.

Apply with a cotton swab to lips. Never apply to sunburned, dry or cracked lips. Start in small doses with the equal parts of pepper and powder and try it. If there is no burn sensation then it is not strong enough.
