- 1). Select a variety of vegetables and fruits that aide in nutritional development of your baby. For instance, peas, string beans, carrots and spinach possess dietary fiber, folic acid, beta carotene and vitamin A for your child's nutrition. Bananas are also good, as are apples.
- 2). Wash the vegetables thoroughly with an organic vegetable cleanser and wire brush. Peel any vegetables that have rugged skins such as potatoes, yams, carrots and beets.
- 3). Steam the vegetables thoroughly. For example, a pound of mixed, fresh vegetables should be steamed for 25 to 30 minutes with no butter or salt. This assures that the vegetables are cooked until mushy.
- 4). Puree the steamed vegetables until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Depending on the vegetables used, the color of the food will vary.
- 1). Steam or boil boneless meat until it falls apart. For example, a pound of chicken breast must be boiled for 30 to 45 minutes.
- 2). Test the internal temperature of the meat. It must reach at least 165 degrees to be safe for a baby to consume. If it is at optimal temperature, remove the meat from the stove.
- 3). Add the meat to a food processor with some premixed vegetable medley baby food. One cup of meat must be mixed with at least two cups of vegetable puree. This aids in making the meat smooth.
- 4). Puree the meat until it forms a pasty cream that mixes with the vegetable puree.
