  Baltimore's Inner Harbor is a great place for dogs to explore, and you can often see visitors walking their pooches along the boardwalk of this picturesque and busy spot. Likewise, the Inner Harbor is home to a number of hotels that are friendly to dogs and pets in general, which makes it an easy destination for travelers with animals in tow.   The Residence Inn is an extended-stay chain of hotels, and the Inner Harbor site permits guests to bring dogs of up to 100 lbs. for a fee of an additional $100. The Residence Inn is in the middle of everything at the Inner Harbor, just two blocks from the area's shopping, dining and entertainment. The hotel also offers its guests a buffet breakfast and an evening reception. If you book online with the Residence Inn, don't forget to let them know about your dog by entering the information in the online comments box. Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel

  The good news about the Sheraton Inner Harbor is that this hotel does not charge extra fees for dogs of up to 50 lbs. Guests, however, are not allowed to leave their dogs alone in the guest rooms, so that means Fido will have to accompany you everywhere. Known as a AAA Three-Diamond Hotel, the Sheraton is connected to the Baltimore Convention Center and is in the heart of the Harbor area. You'll find Morton's The Steakhouse here, along with the Orioles Grille. There are 337 guest rooms in this large hotel. If you book online, let the hotel know that you're bringing your dog in the Special Requests section. Rates start at $199.

  This chic waterfront hotel is located across a walkway from the National Aquarium and just past the hip Power Plant entertainment complex in the Inner Harbor. Pier 5 welcomes "all well-behaved dogs" and does not charge a fee if you use a credit card. Otherwise, the hotel charges a $450 refundable cash deposit. This is a hot and hip hotel, and you should reserve well in advance. It also is home to two of Baltimore's most popular restaurants -- Ruth's Chris/Pier 5 and McCormick & Schmick's.
