- Baking soda is a natural exfoliant, and can buff away dead skin cells quickly without damaging the surface layers of the skin. Baking soda also kills off bacteria on the skin, helping to prevent further acne breakouts. You can create an effective acne scar reducer by mixing together a teaspoon of water with a tablespoon of baking soda, mixing well until a paste is formed. Apply the paste to the skin, massaging it in gently using small, circular motions. After a minute, rinse the entire area well with water.
- Citrus juice contains high levels of acid and large amounts of vitamin C, which makes it particularly helpful in removing dead skin buildup as well rebuilding new skin cells to take their place. By applying concentrated citrus juice to the skin, such as lemon juice, you can significantly lift off dead, scarred skin and allow new, evenly-toned skin to come through. Lemon juice can be applied by soaking a cotton washcloth in the concentrated juice, then applying the juice to the skin liberally. Allow the juice to dry onto the skin, and repeat twice per day to remove acne scars and discolorations.
- Vitamin E oil can be applied to scarred areas of the skin to soften and loosen dead skin, scarred tissues, and discolorations. Vitamin E oil delivers a large dose of Vitamin E to the skin when massaged into it, which can fight off free radicals and promote faster healing. To apply vitamin E oil to acne scars, pour 1/2 teaspoon of the oil into the palm of your hand, and rub them together. Massage the oil onto the areas of scarring and discoloration for around five minutes, then wipe the excess oil off of the skin with a soft washcloth.
