Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) is an incurable disease caused by a virus known as the human immune-deficiency virus (HIV).
When the virus gets into your blood, you become HIV infected.
The virus attacks the immune system which helps the body to fight against diseases.
When this happens, the body loses its ability to fight infections.
Finally, one becomes ill from various diseases.
The ends result of this is death.
HIV gets into the body in so many ways, some of which are as follows: *Having unprotected sex with an infected person *Through transfusion of infected blood or a cut by an affected instrument or an injection with an infected needle.
*From an infected pregnant mother to her unborn child.
*Through HIV infected breast milk to a breast feeding baby.
One cannot contact HIV through: shaking hands, touching or being near a person that is infected, sharing of clothes or eating together.
A person will know if he or she has HIV infection or AIDS principally by taking a special test.
If a person has AIDS, so many illnesses will be linked to the person like the general weakness of the body, constant headaches and the like.
A person who is infected should however, put in the effort in making sure he or she does not infect other people and at the same time, he can enjoy a long life and take care of his or her health.
The period between HIV infection and the development of antibodies can vary from six weeks to six month.
So after the first test, one should respect the test after six month in order to be double sure.
The HIV test is a blood test which shows if one is infected with HIV or not.
Early diagnosis is not best because opportunities for better health care exist as the earlier one goes.
AIDS has no cure and the vaccines that cut down the effects of their illness are outrageously expensive for the average poor people who are infected to afford, so the best way to avoid AIDS for now is TOTAL ABSTINENCE and being faithful to one's partner.
The choice is ours as an individual to follow the steps earlier or to simply be ignorant.
We have a great advantage and edge over others to drive away completely, the dreaded monster.
