Are you going on a trip? Is it a vacation or business trip? Well, if you are not a seasoned traveller, then perhaps a good lesson in how to pack for a trip is in order.
A friend of mine recently planned this huge trip with her family and she got so caught up in the actual travelling plans that when it came down to the wire and she realized that she hadn't even packed her own suitcases, she spent a very late night the day before her trip doing laundry and trying to figure out what to take with her.
Needless to say, she got no sleep which in turn caused her to forget some very crucial items.
Let's just say they shall remain "unmentionable", if you know what I mean.
So, every time I travel, I now make a list of items I need and a little tip about the morning of the trip that has saved me time and money while on vacation.
1.
Never under estimate what size suitcase you'll need.
If you are a woman, in most cases, it will be too small.
You always think you'll have more room than you actually do.
2.
I invest in a good carryon bag.
If you can find one with lots of pockets and zipper compartments, even better.
Be sure to carry a change of clothes, undergarments, and extra shoes just in case your bags are delivered to your destination with you.
3.
Be sure you have luggage tags clearly identifying who they belong to.
If your luggage is a commonly used color or style, place some unique stickers on it so it can easily be identifiable to you.
4.
Make sure you pack double the undergarments for your trip.
You never know what can happen while you're away and you don't want to run out of these necessities.
5.
Make sure you pack "outfits" as opposed to shirts and trousers or blouses and pants or skirts.
Be certain that your clothes will match right down to the shoes.
Be sure to pack the appropriate jewelry for these outfits.
Don't forget any matching belts or ties.
6.
You may be attending a formal affair so be sure you pack something elegant or dressy just in case.
7.
The night before, pack everything except what you will need the next morning.
Have your travel clothes laid out but do not pack your toiletries that you will use that morning.
8.
The morning of, do your normal daily routine and after each task, pack that item that you used.
For example, brush your teeth, than pack the toothbrush and toothpaste.
Put on your cosmetics, then pack them, blow-dry your hair, then pack it away.
By doing this, this will ensure that you take everything you need for your morning routine.
These are just some basic tips for ensuring that you don't forget your essentials when you travel.
Making a list of things NOT to forget has made my trips and vacations a lot less stressful.
