I live in South Florida and have seen my fair share of Hurricanes.
It's amazing how each time a hurricane approaches, there is a scramble for food, gas, and water.
And a big one is plywood to cover windows.
Everyone here knows that each hurricane season we have a chance of actually getting a hurricane, history has proven that and its not at mystery.
I have worked part time in one of the big box hardware stores for some time now and can tell you from experience that people go crazy over getting plywood or any kind of sheet material if the plywood is gone, when a storm is off our coast.
Its puzzling why they don't keep the wood they bought the last time instead of using it for something else.
This lack of preparation to me is uncalled for.
The same can be said about generators, you find people scrambling to find a generator and then some trying to buy cable and connectors so they can power the whole house.
All this while the storm is a day away.
If so worried, why not have bought a generator early on and set it up the way you want with extra gas.
You would be ready to go while the unprepared were scrambling.
And the same can be said for water and food.
The grocery shelves can be emptied early by everyone stocking up.
This should be done before a storm is approaching.
Its easy to put away a little extra food as time goes by so you will have at least three days worth.
While your at it, if you do not have a gas stove in your kitchen buy one of those camping stoves to use if your power goes out.
Don't forget gas to go with your stove.
You could be preparing for Hurricanes, Blizzards or any event.
Buy everything you need now so when something happens you are not on the street trying to locate supplies and material at the last minute.
You should be home checking out your stuff that you had put away early.
