With a population around 113,449, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, Allegan, Michigan, is a medium-sized town. This country town offers many outdoor-related activities including hiking in forests, boating and fishing on lakes, and a 122-mile driving tour along the Allegan County Heritage Trail.

DeLano Mansion

The DeLano Mansion is a six-room bed and breakfast. You may call ahead and request to bring your pet with you. The French Garden Suite is the only room in which guests can have pets. As of 2010, rates range from $109 to $219 per night, with pets costing an extra $25 per night. Wedding packages are available. These packages range from elopements to up to 12 or 25 guests. The elopement package is an intimate affair just for the bride and groom. The package includes flowers for the bride and groom, complete wedding coordination, officiate and witnesses, music, photographs, dinner voucher, sparkling wine and chocolate-covered strawberries delivered to your room, wedding cake and a gourmet breakfast for two each day of your stay. As of 2010, the elopement package costs $1,195 plus room costs. The 12- and 25-guest packages include all the amenities from the elopement package as well as an hors d'oeuvres and wine reception and plating for the wedding cake. While staying at the DeLano Mansion, enjoy a show at the Old Regent Theatre, located less than of a mile away.

The Castle in the Country is a 10-suite bed and breakfast. The 10 suites are in two separate buildings on 65 acres of land. Some suites have a Whirlpool and a fireplace. Use the complimentary kayaks on the private lake and pond. Relax at the on-site spa and enjoy nature on the walking trails. The on-site spa offers an a la cart menu with options such as 60-minute side-by-side massages for couples that cost $200 as of 2010. Wedding packages are available. These packages range from elopements to up to 25 guests. As of 2010, suites range from $139 to $269 per night. While staying at this bed and breakfast, visit Sherwood's Cove, a local sports bar on Brady Street, less than one mile away.

Twin Gables Inn is a bed and breakfast located 25 miles west of Allegan in Saugatuck. Many of the 15 suites at the Twin Gables Inn overlook Lake Kalamazoo. This bed and breakfast offers a three-course gourmet breakfast, a waterfall pond, indoor Whirlpool hot tubs and an outdoor heated pool, which is available from May to September. As of 2010, suites range from $70 to $265 per night. The inn does not allow pets. While staying at Twin Gables Inn, visit the Round Barn Winery located a half mile north.

Wickwood Inn is a bed and breakfast located in Saugatuck. This bed and breakfast offers 11 rooms and is one-block from Lake Michigan. As of 2010, the suites range from $185 to $385 per night. According to Fred A. Bernstein, a New York Times travel writer, the 11 rooms "are perfect for romantic getaways." The rooms have a designer flair with antique furniture and fabrics. The Wickwood Inn offers several amenities includes optional featherbeds, Zent Spa amenities and Kashmere robes.
