- 1). Decide how many squares you need and the size of each square. For example, the squares on typical graph paper are 1/4 inch.
- 2). Draw a straight line across the bottom of your sheet of paper using a ruler. Using the protractor, mark a 90-degree angle perpendicular to the first line. Following that mark, make a line with a ruler, creating an "L."
- 3). Measure 1/4 inch to the right. Mark a 90-degree angle again. Use the ruler and draw a line on the 90-degree mark. Repeat the process for as many squares as you require.
- 4). When you are finished with the vertical lines, turn the paper to the right and begin making intersecting lines. Use the protractor to ensure a 90-degree angle to make perfect squares. Repeat.
