Congenital Colonic Stenosis
We report the case of an infant with congenital colonic stenosis in the ascending colon and review the literature regarding this uncommon condition.
The colon is the least common site of congenital intestinal stenosis and atresia. It accounts for 5% to 15% of intestinal stenoses and atresias, occurring in 1 of every 1,5003 to 40,0001, births. Our review of the literature revealed 8 cases of congenital colonic stenosis. We discuss these reports and describe an additional case of colonic stenosis that involved the ascending colon.
