I have always been the type of person that enjoys biking, hiking, and most other things involving an adventurous trip. From the time I was a kid, I had a knack for being a bit too adventurousâ¦.at least, that is what my mom said. But, I also had a knack for fixing things such as my bike. I enjoyed watching my father replace my bicycle's tire or remote control plane or remote control car. My dad would go into his garage, pull out his toolkit from one of the counters he installed, put whatever was broken on his workbench and fix it. Too me, it was amazing to see what he did. How he would take apart whatever it was he was working on, replace what was broken, reassemble the item, and watch the smiles on our faces. How we enjoyed what he did for us. His passion for fixing things rubbed off on me and now I find myself wanting to fix things around the house on a daily basis - which brings me back to the Park Tool Repair Stand.
My daughter and I went on our weekly bike ride through the neighborhood a few weeks ago. There's a ditch that we love to ride through and over every time we get near it. Well, this time I wanted to really push it and see if I still had it in me to do a "wheelie" after hitting the ditch. My plan was to build up enough speed, hit the ditch at an angle and when coming up, try a wheelie. Things went well as I gathered enough steam, keep my balance, hit the ditch at an angle and then, boom! I think I hit a small rock which through my balance off and caused me to crash afterwards. I had some scars and a few bruises, but it was my bike that I was concerned about. My bike's wheel was damaged and clearly needed to be replaced. So I carried it home, pulled out one of the best tools I ever purchased, a Park Tool, setup my bike on the stand and made the wheel replacement without issue. You may say, "Well, that's no big deal". If you have had to replace a bike wheel the old fashioned way, then you know how difficult it can be to get the job done. Having to steady the bike on its seat and handle is not easy at all. Having a durable, steady, sturdy, and strong Park Tool makes a difference in terms of repairing a bike.
