If you're planning a holiday in Cambridgeshire this summer consider visiting a children's farm park.
Kids absolutely love watching animals close up that they don't normally get a chance to see, especially if they normally live in cities.
There are a couple of excellent places that offer family entertainment based around farm or zoo animals in Cambridgeshire, here are just a couple to visit.
The Scarewell Farm & Country Centre is based just outside Peterborough at Thornhaugh and has plenty to keep families happy all day long.
There's a Shire horse centre that has ten Shire horses that daily show off how they worked in the olden days on a farm and what they get up to in modern times, like pulling carriages for weddings or parades.
There's also an activity barn where children can enjoy a large soft play area, ride around on play tractors, explore a play house or eat their picnic under cover if it rains.
Outside there's a straw bale maze to get lost in, animal paddocks that house donkeys, goats and sheep, an outdoor play area with slides, swings and climbing frames and a pond with ducks and swans.
There's also a giant chicken run and a pig pen in the grounds to amuse all the visitors.
Once you've exhausted all the animals you can browse around the shop or have lunch at the picnic area or even in the restaurant or cafe in site.
Older kids will enjoy driving kart around a motorised track as well as checking out the cattle paddock and stables.
It's a fantastic day out for all the family.
The Milton Maize Maze is another brilliant location for a family day out in Cambridgeshire.
A giant maze created out of growing maize plants, it's in a seven acre field and has miles of paths but keep an eye on your kids as you will get lost! It can take an hour of two to navigate your way around the maize but once you've cracked it you can explore the other activities available for children from a giant inflatable slide, bouncy castles, go-karts, trampolines and crazy golf in the field of fun, to a BBQ, picnic area, pets paddock and pantry, tractor rides and an indoor play area there's something to keep you all amused and refreshed too.
There's also a farm trail to meet the animals and feed the fish.
All in all it's a fabulous day out for all the family.
