Toys are Important for Kids" Development

For any household with young children or teens it is very common to wonder where all the toys come from. Almost every bedroom, play area, garage, or family room has shelves of toys, plastic storage bins full of toys, cabinets full of board games, and wicker baskets loaded with stuffed animals. It is a joy to watch kids imagine, play, and experiment. How many fun afternoons have been spent teaching a youngest to petal a bike, build a sandcastle, or hit a ball. With as fast as kids grow, it teaches adults to mark their time. A year's time in our lives does not seem that long, but in twelve months a child grows and matures dramatically. Teens, kids, and toys all go together.

The most dramatic development in a young child is between the ages of zero and five or six years old. This is when they grow and change the most physically. Though the physical changes slow down some, the minds are always craving new experiences. Some of the best toys to help them constructively are ones that promote motor skill development. Pedaling a bike, for example, teaches them to do two different things at the same time. The hands have to steer and the feet have to petal. For autistic children learning to ride a bike can even be introduced and used by a therapist.

Toys such as wooden train tracks and building blocks encourage children to construct and plan. Some architects credit a set of building blocks for inspiring them at an early age towards drawing and construction. Wooden train tracks interlock at the end. With straight and curved pieces, bridges, and railroad crossings, they are hours of endless fun for a child. Roads can be laid out, buildings set up, and a town is born.

Some other fun toys for children include animated characters that are also made into a series of toys. Bob the Builder toys are very popular. Characters in the show focus around the human characters of Bob and Wendy. Adventures revolve around various jobs and scenarios that the group gets involved with. Though all the characters are part of the 'Bob' set, the characters made by the vehicles are purchased more heavily. A crane, dump truck, backhoe, and roller are among the cast. With such names as Roley, Dizzy, Muck, Lofty, and Scoop these toys are very popular. Leap Pad has also integrated Bob the Builder into its product offerings. One Leap Pad book features Bob the Builder characters on an adventure. With songs and a story line, each page tells more about the story. One draw back to some the animated Bob the Builder items is the inclusion of rock type music in the background. This does turn some parents off.

Of course everyone knows about Toy Story. One of Disney Pixar's best known and best earning film of all times, many kids and adults are looking forward to the DVD release of Toy Story 3. Most movies and cartoons are about situations that happen within the make believe world. The really unique angle of Toy Story is taking toys that could be in anyone's room and letting them work together. One very clever side line is that the toys understand what their purpose and place is in the world of Andy's room. This helps to teach children that they each have a unique roll in this world.

When selecting toys a wise person should try to think of the long term for that child. Does the toy serve a purpose, educate, or enrich a child? Ones that are of horribly ugly characters, harmful action, or are associated with more adult subjects are better left on the shelf. Kids and Teens [http://thecommunitybrainblog.com/category/kids-and-teens/] notice when people care and purchase them toys that are interesting, challenging, and pretty to look at.
