Attractions in Gwalior

Gwalior is a royal city that is situated in the state of Madhya Pradesh of India.
The city is amongst the fastest growing educational hubs of India.
The city is famous for its royal forts and palaces.
Here are some of the attractions of Gwalior: 1.
Gwalior Fort: The foundation of the fort was laid by Raja Suraj Sen at least 1000 years ago.
Some experts believe that the fort is the largest of its kind in the world.
The fort is surrounded by strong walls that are as high as 35 meters at some places.
The fort also has a number of objects and artifacts that belonged to Raja Suraj Sen.
The fort is believed to have withstood attacks from Sikandar Lodhi and Ibrahim Lodhi.

Suraj Kund: This was built during 15th century.
This place was believed to have cured the leprosy of Suraj Sen by Sage Gwalipa.

Man Mandir Palace: This palace was built during 16th century and has earned a significant place in the history of Gwalior.
Due to negligence most of the objects have been destroyed.
Various efforts are being made by various NGOs to restore its lost heritage and beauty.
The important spot in this palace is Jauhar Pond where many Rajput ladies used to commit sati.

Tomb of Ghaus Mohammed: This is a tomb of Muhammad Ghaus who was a Muslim saint and was built during the 16th century.
According to the sources, Ghaus helped Babur to win the Fort of Gwalior.
The stone carvings with apparent panels with exotic frameworks create a delicate and ethereal appeal.

Teli Ka Mandir: This temple was built during 9th century in the Dravidian style of architecture.
This temple cum fort is one of the oldest in the city.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu whose Garuda can be seen on the top of the temple.

Sas-Bahu Temples: These temples are a part of the Gwalior fort.
7.
Gujri Mahal: This elegant palace was founded by Raja Man Singh for his ninth wife, Mrignayani who was considered as very bold and courageous.
Their love story has been an indispensable part of the folk culture and stories.
The palace has been transformed into a museum where a large collection of the stone carvings that belonged to Hindu and Jain deities have been kept.

Surya Mandir: This temple is believed to be a replica of Sun Temple in Konark.
The temple was built by one of the top industrialists in the country.
