How To Dress For Winter Camping

Winter camping can be equally as fun as summer camping.
There are no insects, pesky critters, and other annoyances that can be found during the summer.
There is also a lot less people during the winter, making it a perfect paradise for people who like to hike in remote areas.
However, winter camping can become dangerous if you are not properly prepared.
Listed below are some basic guidelines for dressing during winter camping.
Preparation You should always plan ahead before participating in a snow camping trip.
It may be inconvenient to carry loads of extra equipment while hiking, but it may be necessary to stay safe during your trip.
Check future weather reports and map of the area to get a good idea of the conditions where you will be camping.
Shoes The type of shoes you bring will depend on the kind of snow in the area.
It can also affect the transportation.
For traveling downhill and across flat plains, skis are an excellent choice.
Snowshoes will be required for traveling uphill and climbing mountains.
For forest with dense trees, hiking shoes can be used.
Clothing Never use cotton clothes during cold weather.
The cotton material will make your body colder, since it sucks away heat from the body.
Waterproof trousers contain insulation that will help your body to retain heat, making it a perfect clothing choice for snowy environments.
Men's and ladies waterproof trousers and jackets are cheap to purchase and should provide your body with sufficient warmth when combined with clothing layers underneath.
The more layers you have on, the warmer your body will be.
Always pack extra clothing in case the temperature gets lower than you expect.
Pack an extra pair of socks, trousers, shirts, and hats.
These clothing articles will be your backup if it gets too cold or your other clothes get ruined.
It is also an excellent change for when your present clothes get damp.
You should never sleep in damp clothing because it can make you very sick, so opt for a dry change instead.
Sweating may sound nice in cold climates, but it can actually be harmful.
Sweating will can make you colder, leading to sicknesses.
To avoid this, always wear breathable fabrics that get plenty of air circulation.
The weather during the winter can become very unstable, especially in high attitudes, so be prepared to change your clothes on short notice.
