Do you get overly excited for days at a time? Or start many projects that seem brilliant and then fail to finish them? There are many signs of the mania side of bipolar disorder, and here are four symptoms.
1.
) Rapid Speech As you progress further into mania, ideas will come faster and faster, and you won't be able to get the ideas out of your mouth fast enough.
Speech will become rapid or slurred, so much so that other people won't be able to keep up.
2.
) Poor Judgment An episode of mania can reek havoc on your finances, especially in an age with credit cards.
Many business ideas that seem great in a manic fees, seem ridiculous when a person comes off of their highs.
In addition, hypersexuality, or a revved up sex drive can be a problem, causing promiscuity and pregnancy.
3.
) Irritability When someone is in a manic state, it is the little things that get on their nerves.
For example, a spouse not putting the toilet seat down, or forgetting to turn a light off.
Small events can be triggers for angry or violent behavior, and it becomes very difficult to concentrate.
4.
) Inflated Self Esteem Grandiosity, or an artificially large ego, can cause someone with bipolar disorder to think they are more powerful or charming than they really are.
They may break the law, or set ridiculous goals for themselves that will end in failure.
In an advanced state of mania, a person can enter psychosis, where they will suffer from delusions and hallucinations, that will eventually threaten their life.
