Founded in 1983, the San Diego Theatre Critics Circle annually bestows the Craig Noel Awards for Excellence in Theatre in San Diego, California, on behalf of professional print and online theatre critics in San Diego. The awards were reorganized after a 9-year hiatus, and renamed in honor of Noel, the longtime artistic director at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre, in 2002.
