Liposuction

Liposuction, also known as lipo-plasty is a cosmetic surgery operation that removes fat from many different sites on the human body. Areas affected can range from the abdomen, thighs and buttocks, to the neck, backs of the arms and elsewhere. If you've tried dieting and exercise, yet still can't seem to shift that fat, liposuction could possibly be the only option available to you.

However, contrary to popular perception, Liposuction should not be seen primarily as a last-ditch effort to lose weight. It is a reshaping technique more than anything, designed to help re-contour your body and enhance its aesthetic appeal.
And certainly, fitness is an important aspect for a patient considering liposuction.
While you can have Liposuction at almost any age, you will obtain the best results if your skin still has enough elasticity to achieve a smooth contour following fat removal.
Because, if too much fat is removed, and the skin is not elastic enough to keep up, then odd, textural lumpiness can be felt and seen in the skin. Naturally, the greater the fat removed, the higher the risk of such complications.

However, fear not! The risks for Liposuction are actually rather low. It's a highly safe surgery. The chances of even minor complications arising are something like 0.7% or so.

We are here to help you make the decision that's best for you.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is surgical removal of excess fat, primarily for cosmetic purposes but possibly also for fitness and health, with the use of a small cannula, which is quite simply, a very narrow, hollow tube, like a larger syringe, and an aspirator, which is basically a suction device that helps to suck away all the excess fat.

This leaves you looking slimmer, more shapely, elegant and appealing.
What are indications for Liposuction?
Liposuction works best for stubborn localized fat deposits, which are resistant to diet and exercise. However, with Mega Liposuction it has been possible to treat multiple body areas , resulting in more comprehensive body reshaping and reduction of body weight.
Who is a good candidate for Liposuction?
Liposuction should ideally be performed on a person over 18 years of age and with a generally healthy constitution. It is important for one to have an ongoing diet and exercise routine in order to supplement the liposuction and achieve both, good health and a great physique.

Liposuction is normally recommended to people who, although in fairly good health, still have quite a bit of fatty tissue present in localized areas of the body.

The eligibility of a candidate is also likely to be heavily affected by the presence of any chronic diseases or illnesses of any sort such as Diabetes, Infections, Heart or Circulation problems or Kidney Issues.
The person should not also have smoked for at least 2 months prior to the surgery, because Nicotine interferes with circulation which could hamper the surgery. Is it a permanent solution?
The number of fat cells in the body is constant, they will never increase. With Liposuction the fat cells that are removed, will never be replaced. So the resultant loss of fat is permanent. But to maintain this permanent weight loss, requires adapting healthy eating habits & lifestyle, otherwise you may easily slip into post-operative weight gain. How much fat can be removed?/ From which areas can fat be removed?
Any extra or redundant subcutaneous fat present can, technically, be removed from almost anywhere in the body. A number of areas may be treated in same session, as per your requirements for an all-round, overall, body-sculpt. A consultation with the surgeon should help you identify what sort of outcome you should expect.

Regardless, liposuction is usually conducted in these areas:
· Abdomen
· Hips
· Outer thighs (saddlebags)
· Flanks (Belly love handles)
· Back (Upper or Lower)
· Inner thighs
· Inner knees
· Upper arms
· Chin, Jawline, Gullet
· Breast Tissue
What about surgery? How do I prepare for it?
There are a few important blood tests that need to be done to ascertain one's general fitness for surgery in order to ensure your safety and guarantee, as far as we can, that there will be no complications.

Liposuction is more of a day care procedure nowadays, and does not even take long. You can even get back home later in the evening. Most liposuction is undertaken simply using Regional Anesthesia. The surgery lasts about 2 to 4 hrs on average depending upon what all areas are to be done.Follow Up?
First follow up on 3rd day after surgery, and after that as required. When can i join my work?
You can resume work even as soon as a single day post operation. However, we do advise you to rest for roughly 3 days, as a further precaution and to allow you time to recover to full strength. What is Post operative care required?
You will probably need to wear pressure garments for at least 3-6 months to maintain shape, but beyond that, there is not much specialized care needed.
Remember to diet and exercise though! That's a no-brainer!What happens to the excess skin?
Skin by virtue of its natural elasticity undergoes contracture and adheres to underlying musculature. However, in older patients, the skin may not be so elastic and therefore results in sagging or in adopting a wrinkled or uneven appearance. What is ‘wet' & ‘dry' liposuction?
In wet technique we inject saline solution in the subcutaneous fat before liposuction. It has the advantage of allowing fat suction with minimal blood loss. Dry technique although was invented first, but is obsolete now for liposuction. It's only used for acquiring  fat for grafting. What is laser liposuction?
In laser liposuction, at the end of traditional liposuction laser probe is used to blindly seal the bleeders. It's efficacy is still to be proven completely !!

Will I have any scar?
You will have tiny, almost insignificant scars of about 5-6mm that will be left discretely wherever possible in skin folds or creases.
But no worries!
As with most small scars, they generally fade away and become undetectable. When will be the results of Liposuction become appreciable?
You are likely to see the drastic result of the liposuction, in terms of your bodily shape and appeal about 3 weeks to 3 months after the procedure, but the improvement is continuous and continues even later.

What is VASER Liposuction ?
Vaser Liposuction uses technique called 'Liposelection' which selectively breaks apart & remove unwanted fat. The high frequency 'ultrasonic' vibration of Vaser probes causes the fat cells to shake apart, while leaving blood vessels, nerve & connective tissue unharmed. This helps in reducing edema & having a quick recovery. It also helps in skin tightening of the treated areas.
