- 1). Document all instances of harassment before you start the process of reporting a collector.
- 2). Report the collector to your state's attorney general. He or she can be found at the National Association of Attorneys General website, http://www.naag.org. Click on your state on the map and your attorney general's name and contact information pops up.
- 3). Make a second report to the Federal Trade Commission. Call the FTC at 877-382-4357 or submit the complaint online at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov by clicking "here" under the "FTC Complaint Assistant." Follow the instructions in the assistant to register your complaint.
