Not that this itself is a sure fire way to make money but the more people you refer, the more chance there is of earning. Its basically comes down to economies of scale, the more people that you refer, the greater the chance of having these people make money for you.

Traffic exchanges are a good idea to getting referrals, but in my experience, they are not as effective as using my website. I tell you why I think this is because a lot of people have the same idea so they flood the same programs as advertised on the traffic exchanges diluting the chance of getting referrals. Also the traffic generated on some traffic exchanges is sometimes not the best as people are trying to earn credits to advertise these programs, so are not really taking much notice of websites that they surf when earning credits. But if you only need traffic, they do work.
As for the paid to click programs, yiou can end up the same problem as with the traffic exchanges, many people flood these with the same programs, so they may not be so effective as they could be.
