Mahe is the largest island in the Seychelles island chain, which is located off the east coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean. Most people live on Mahe's north and east coasts. The east coast is home to the island's capital, Victoria, and urban areas, but the southern coast is less populated, offering mountains and deserted beaches. Mahe is a popular tourist destination and boasts a number of luxurious resorts, but there are also accommodations for the traveler on a budget. - The beachfront Coral Strand Hotel is located near the capital city, Victoria, on Mahe's northwest shore.
