- 1). Launch Dreamweaver and open the webpage in which you want to create the link.
- 2). Highlight the word, words or images to which you want to add a link.
- 3). Type the URL of the link destination in the "Link" field in the "Properties" toolbar. Click the small folder icon to the right of the "Link" field, browse for the file, highlight it and click the "Open" button if you want the link to go to a file.
- 4). Click the "Target" drop-down menu next to the folder icon and choose "_blank" if you want the link location to open in a new window. Do not select an option in the "Target" drop-down if you want the link to open in the same window. The highlighted word or words will turn blue and be underlined. The border around the image will turn blue if you added a link to an image.
