- 1). Locate the appropriate SRT file. Right-click and copy the file.
- 2). Open the folder containing the AVI file. Right-click inside the folder and paste the SRT file.
- 3). Compare the names of the two files. The titles need to be identical -- except for the file extension -- for the video player to identify the SRT file when playing the video. If the AVI is titled "demandstudios345.avi," for example, the subtitle file needs to be "demandstudios345.srt" to play along with the video.
- 4). Open the AVI file with VLC or your preferred video player. Click the "Video" menu and highlight "Subtitles." Different options appear, depending on the available languages for the subtitles track.
- 5). Select your preferred language and play the video along with the subtitles.
