- 1). Keep the syringe and medication in the original box.
- 2). Place the box of medication in a plastic bag to protect it from moisture.
- 3). Place the medication and ice pack in the cooler to ensure that the Lupron is not exposed to sunlight and that it remains under 77 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 4). Ensure that the Lupron remains cool when traveling by car. Stop frequently to obtain new ice packs to keep the temperature in the cooler below 77 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 5). Declare any amounts of Lupron exceeding 3 oz. to security officers at airport check points. Medications and liquids to keep medications cool are allowed during air travel, but they must be declared to a security officer, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
- 6). Dispose of used syringes in a sharps container during travel to avoid injury.
