How to Go Into a Deep State of Mind

    • 1). Control breathing patterns. Slowing down your breathing allows your heart rate to slow down while relaxing your muscles. Any physical tension will inhibit your ability to enter a deep meditative state.

    • 2). Concentrate on physical changes and movement. This involves exercising conscious awareness of your pulse and breathing rate as well as the positioning of your limbs. If you stretched beforehand, focus also on the level of relaxation in your muscles.

    • 3). Create peaceful, comfortable surroundings. Entering a deep state of mind may be difficult in a distracting atmosphere, which may interrupt your meditative practice. Try to choose a quiet place in your home or apartment where you feel comfortable.

    • 4). Create a meditation schedule. The likelihood of reaching a deep state of mind often depends on how disciplined you are about establishing a consistent practice. This requires you to set aside 10 to 30 minutes at least every few days for meditation. Meditation is form of mental exercise and needs to be done consistently to strengthen your ability to focus and gain awareness.
